Students attend the “Amazing World of Tech” workshop at Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom.
On Friday 29th June, a group of 20 students attended the event at Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom, sponsored by Paranui Marae.
It was a fun and educational experience right from the word go. The students learned about hacking, CPUs, Javascript language and more.
Lunch was provided and also morning and afternoon tea breaks.
One highlight of the day was attempting to pick locks in an effort to expose a flaw in MasterLocks. Most people were not able to open the lock, but those who did showed and educated everyone there that every system has a flaw.
Another highlight was programming virtual robots using Javascript programming language so that they can attack computer-controlled “enemy” robots.
The students also heard some interesting stories about someone who re-purposed their PlayStation 3 into a server and was then able to play games that normally wouldn’t work on a PS3 using certain software! He also made his computer run sound through his car radio and into speakers.
Thank you to everybody involved.
