Year 13 Camp

Mana Media —

On the 23rd of May, the Year 13 students attended the annual Year 13 camp, planned by the Level 3 Events Management class.

This involved leaving school in the morning on Monday the 23rd of May and driving into the heart of the North Island to Raurimu.

When there, we unpacked our gear and set up camp for the night.

The next morning we woke at 7am to the cold 5 degree mountain air and the sleepy faces of our bunkmates. We all hopped into the vans and blasted the heaters as we drove the 2 hours to Rotorua for Skyline Skyrides and the other activities planned for us.

We rode the gondola up the hill taking some amazing photos all the way up. When we got to the top, we were told we each got to do 3 luge rides which is when you basically hop into a go cart and ride it down a hill as fast as you can, 1 zipline and 1 sky swing.

After the adrenaline rush we had at Skyline we took the gondola back down the hill and hopped back into the vans. But the day only got better from there. We drove to this place where we played bowling, lazer tag and mini golf as well. After a satisfying end to the day we all hopped in the vans and headed back to camp.

The next day the activities involved us getting quite dirty. We woke up a 7am and jumped in the vans again. We drove to Turangi for our day's activities.

First up was paintball. This as you know involved us shooting eachother with highly pressurised paintball guns and splattering eachother with paint. After a little bit of pain but a lot of fun we headed to our next activity, white water rafting.

This involved a group of about 5 or 6 people getting into a raft and rafting down a river going through rapids as we went. It was a very fun experience for all of us.
