Year 9 Orientation Overnigter

Mana Media —

Making the transition into College life can be daunting  and so one of the first events on the calendar is the year 9 Overnight Orientation at the Foxton Beach Bible Camp.

On Wednesday 31st January all of the College's Year 9 students embarked on an Overnight Orientation Camp at the Foxton Beach Bible Camp with the Senior Student Leaders who had spent two days prior to the camp training to lead activities and support the Year 9’s through their transition to college.

After leaving school at 2pm the group was transported to the camp where the seniors started off the over-nighter by playing some games in small groups.  The aim of the camp is to create relationships between the all of the students, this was the first of many activities that helped to foster friendships and create bonds.

The House Deans came down for the afternoon and the students got to meet and participate in activities with their Deans as well as other students who will be in their House and Mentor Groups his year.

After a delicious dinner everyone set off for a game of spotlight.  This gave everyone the chance to get to know other students from their house as well as having some fun.

The following day the students returned to school and cooled off with a BBQ lunch and a swim in the pool.

The stay over was a success. We would like to congratulate the Year 9’s on a successful start to the year, the whanau of the Year 9’s who visited us out at camp, the fantastic Senior Leaders and all of the staff that helped out in many ways.
