Manawatu Inter-Secondary Schools Athletics Championships 2018

On Saturday 17th March, eleven of our students represented the College at the Manawatu Inter-Secondary Schools Athletics Championships at Massey University.

Year 10 student Trinity Richards placed 7th in the Intermediate Girls Javelin with a distance of 18.0m.

Year 12 student Tayla Kuiti placed 2nd in the Intermediate Girls Shotput, throwing a PB 11.89m. She also placed 3rd in the Intermediate Girls Discus with a PB of 25.55m.

Year 9 student Chloe Granich-Smith placed 4th in the Junior Girls 400m finals.

Year 11 student Tracey Byron placed 8th in her 100m Heat with a time of 12.97.

Year 9 students Haylee Cudby placed 9th in the Junior Girls Long Jump and Skye Chambers placed 10th in the final.

Year 13 student Elian Mohi placed 6th in the 200m finals and 8th in the Senior Boys High Jump.

Year 13 student Michael Tamarapa placed 2nd in the Senior Boys Hurdles and 2nd in the Senior Boys High Jump.

Year 10 student Shelby Wells placed 9th in the Intermediate Girls Long Jump.

Some fantastic results!

From this competition, year 12 student Tayla Kuiti and year 13 student Michael Tamarapa were selected to represent Manawatu College at the North Island Secondary Schools Athletics Competition.

On Saturday 7th April Tayla and Michael competed in the North Island Secondary Schools Athletics Competition held in Whanganui.

Tayla placed ninth out of 18 in the Intermediate Girls Shot-put and Michael met his personal best in the Senior Boys High Jump and finished fifth overall.
