Year 9 Overnight Camp

Mana Media —

On Thursday 2nd February, all of the year 9 students set off down to the Foxton Beach Bible Camp for a night of fun.

The overnight camp is designed for the new students to get to know each other as well as their teachers for the year.  This years' camp was organised by Mr Nathan Webb, Miss Kirsty Tucker and the year 9 Homeroom teachers Miss Windley (9WD and 9WY) and Miss Frith (9FH).

The students left the College during period 5 on Thursday and were dropped off to the camp by the school bus.  Rooms were chosen, beds made up and groups quickly established for creating a skit or act, which was to serve as the entertainment for the evening.

Dinner consisted of baked chicken (kindly donated by Turks), potato and pumpkin mash and a delicious vegetable pasta bake all made by Mr O'Sullivan and his apprentice Mr Southward.  After dinner the students cleaned up and got into House groups to get to know the other students in their House.

Parents were invited to come down for supper and to meet the teachers at 7:30pm.  Many took up this offer and it was pleasing to see many of you there.  The night concluded with some team building activities - the guess the name of the person behind the sheet proving the most popular. After that, the students headed off to bed in their dorms.

The next morning the students were up at 7am for breakfast and more team building activities.  They returned to school mid morning where they had a sausage sizzle lunch and a swim before Tabloid Sports began.

The camp was a huge success and the students loved it.  A massive thanks must go to the senior leaders and peer support leaders who were exceptional in their duties. Also a huge thanks to  the staff who visited and Mr O'Sullivan, Miss Park and Mrs Tatana who stayed the night to help with supervision.
