Anzac Day

Mana Media —

Senior students represent us well on Anzac Morning.

The morning of ANZAC Day was a very long one for our Senior Student Leaders. It began with a meeting at the Foxton RSA at 5:30am to prepare to march to the Cenotaph for the Dawn Service. Dion McErlean and Emily Culleton were the flag bearers and led the march, and Kyle Williams-Simeon recited The Ode.

At the 9:00am Civic Service held in the College Hall, Kyle addressed the audience and Carla Whittaker and Emily Culleton recited poems associated with the red poppy, while David Cleary provided the narration of the history of the poppy’s association with battlefield deaths. Dion and David also read out the addresses from the Prime Minister and Governor General.

Later in the morning, Hope Thomsen and Kate Thorby laid a wreath on behalf of the College at the Cenotaph Service and Dion and Emily read the Roll of Honour.

The Senior Student Leaders completed their commitments with a 30 minute service to the residents of Lonsdale and Riverside Rest Homes.
