Shay Syme and Qynn Smith blitz the Manawatu Inter-Secondary School Athletics Competition!

Mana Media —

This competition hosts Manawatu's finest young athletes where students compete to be the best in their chosen discipline.

Athletes are vying for a spot as a part of the Manawatu team to compete at the North Island Secondary School Athletics Championships held later in the year.

Manawatu College had six students competing this year.

Senior Boy Jack Penman: High Jump, Long Jump.

Senior Girl Briahna Roache-Jackson: Shotput, Discus

Intermediate Boy Shay Syme: Loong Jump, High Jump, 100m, 200m

Intermediate Girl Tayla Kuiti: Shot Put, Discus

Junior Boy Qynn Smith: Long Jump, 100m, Triple Jump, High Jump

Junior Girl Shelby Wells: 100m, 200m, Long Jump

Despite a cold, wet start the competition was fierce from our students.  All athletes representing our College performed to the best of their ability and were exceptional.

Tayla Kuiti came 5th in the Intermediate Girls Shot Put.

Qynn Smith came 1st in the Junior Boys Triple Jump and 1st in the Junior Boys High Jump.

Shay Syme came 1st in the Intermediate Boys Long Jump, 3rd in the Intermediate Boys High Jump, 3rd in the Intermediate Boys 100m final and 1st in the Intermediate Boys 200m final.

Congratulations to all of the students who represented Manawatu College and a huge thanks to Kylie, Nathan and Mrs Belk for their support and encouragement.
