Sam Hansen comes second in the Granite Games in America!

On 5th September Sam arrived in Minnesota, USA to compete in the Individual Teen division at the Granite Crossfit Games.

Sam had to qualify through completing a series of workouts over   a four-week competition during June and July where the top 15 teens from around the world qualified for the competition. Sam qualified fifth in the world for the Teen Division. The Teen division is designed for teen athletes who are ready to step onto the competition floor.

The Games consisted of:

Saturday 

Event 1: "Bear Run" 
Event 2: "Cycle" 

Sunday
Event 3: "Swim, Run" 
Event 4: "321 Clean" 
Event 5: "Strongman Muscle Up" 

Monday
Event 6: "Rope climbs & Box jumps" 
Event 7: "Down N' Back" 

Day One.  She came seventh in the 'Bear Run' and third in second workout of day, the 'Cycl'e.  Sam was fourth overall after the first day of competition just two points behind third.

Day two opened with the 'Swim Run', a 400 m swim and a 1.5 mile run through scenic St Cloud, Minnesota.   This was followed with two lifting events.   It was a successful day for Sam, from the three workouts she got a first in the swim/run, a second in the 321 Clean  and a fifth in the Strongman Muscle Up to be sitting in second place overall heading into the final day of the Games.

Day three was the "Rope climbs & Box jumps"  and "Down N' Back" , where Sam came third and sixth.

Sam finished the Granite Games on the podium in second place overall! From 20th in 2016 in the online qualifier, to 5th in the online qualifier in 2017, to second at the Games!
