On Friday March 10th the staff and students bid farewell to Te Reo Maori teacher Whaea Mereana Hooker.
Whaea Mere has been teaching at Manawatu College for the past two years and will leave a big hole in the Languages Department.
She is still continuing her passion to work with young people as she moves into her new role as a youth minister for her church, New Creations Ministries.
We wish Whaea Mere all the best for her new chapter in life!
Matua Glenn Cook starts on Monday 13th March as our new Te Reo Maori teacher. He is a familiar face to many as he has been in the College for the last two years teaching the Whakairo, Tu Rangitira and Nga Toi classes conversational Maori.
Matua Dan Manuel-Josef will teach Whaea Mere's Year 9 Maori Performing Arts class. Another familiar face in the school, Dan is the tutor for the combined Kapa Haka roopu Nga Wai o Manawhenua.
