2017 was another very successful year for our gateway students on work placement.
We had 17 placement positions to fill, slightly down on the previous year, as there were fewer students in the class. As a result three of last year’s gateway students now in year thirteen were able to experience placements in automotive, accountancy, and real estate as possible career options. This was very beneficial to the students and I feel an excellent development of the gateway programme we would look to continue.
Again we had excellent support from our employers who are so crucial to the success of the programme. New employers in Foxton were De Molen the windmill tourist site, The Foxton Horsedrawn Tram Society, Turks Poultry, Foxton Tyre and Lube, Te Waiora Medical Centre and Parlato and Associates. A big thank you to them and to all our employers for their continued support.
Congratulations to Codey King who won the gateway cup in a close contest. Codey worked at The Warehouse in Levin and she was regarded as the best gateway student placement they have had. Well done, Codey!
