On Tuesday 11th April a group of staff and students were taken on a tour of the Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom.
This will be a destination where people can experience cultural tourism that is both authentic and interactive.
This cultural precinct preserves, shares and makes accessible the stories and taonga of specific cultural groups: tangata whenua, early pioneers, Dutch and more recent immigrants.
The project has attracted widespread recognition at a national level and is the only project of its kind in New Zealand. It will transform Foxton into the tourism and events destination of the region.
Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom is being developed as a partnership. When opened, Te Awahou Niewe Stroom will reflect the aspirations, foresight and hard work of many volunteers over more than ten years. Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom will be the home to:
