Te Pa Harakeke o Te Awahou is Foxton's Maori language immersion early childhood center for children under 6.
The symposium, held on June 23rd, provides an opportunity for deep and meaningful korero about the potential of whanau durability and Maori futures, as well as assisting Te Pa Harakeke o Te Awahou towards their goal to continue to provide a high-quality Maori language setting for their tamariki and their whanau.
The day began with a stirring welcoming Powhiri in the College Hall, followed by keynote speakers and presenters: Sir Mark Solomon, Dr Lesley Rameka, Marama Fox, Dr Hohaia Collier, Awerangi Tamihere, Atawhai Tibble and Awhina Tamarapa.
The Patrons were Dame Tariana Turia and Professor Sir Mason Durie. There was also a video presentation from 'Rezist', an up and coming reggae band consisting of ex-students of Manawatu College.
It was a successful day and our Kaitiaki and student leaders represented the College outstandingly.
