Jump Jam 2020

Sharon Prestidge —

Most Mondays, Māpua School gathers around Marie and Ngaio to do Jump jam with Jess and the leaders.

Some of the songs we use are Freaks, Magic, Coconut, A Little Party (never killed nobody), Don't Stop The Party and sometimes the Macarena. One of the teachers looks out for one good class with great facial expressions, they win Gerald the waving cat. The teacher also picks some kids who put great effort into the fun of getting your body warmed up, to start off the day. Last Monday Titoki took Gerald with pride to hold onto for a whole week (till a new class wins it). Previous winners of Gerald have been Mahoe and Totara.

All of the teachers get into it too, dancing the morning away. The leaders, on the other hand, are at the front which means they need to come to Rimu class for practices on Wednesdays. There they practise so the other classes can understand what they need to do.
