New Seaton Valley Cycle and Walkway a Real Asset
The construction of the Seaton Valley Walk/Cycleway will prove a real bonus to students and adults alike who wish to travel up and down this valley safely. The Seaton Valley Road is narrow, winding, and complete with rises and hollows. For students, or in fact anyone walking or cycling this road, there was the ever present risk of a vehicle versus cyclist or pedestrian accident.
I'm sure then that many parents are pleased that this new asset is close to complete and will be available for students to make their way to and from school in a much safer manner. However it does come with some risks and we wish to mention these here in the hope that this may assist in a positive way. Specifically we are aware that there are points where walkers/cyclists need to cross the road itself and students will need to take extra special care during these manoeuvres. Likewise the bottom of the track brings travellers to a point where they need to travel on Mapua Drive. There is signage requiring vehicles travel at a maximum of 60 kph but this is not necessarily adhered to and so vehicles can be moving even faster at this point. We simply encourage children to approach this intersection with real care.
