The works of Colin McCahon
Manuka students have created some beautiful designs with some inspiring poetry for our walls.
Firstly we looked at who Colin McCahon was and wrote a short biography. We then looked for our favourite art and described why we liked it. We then tried to emulate his ‘Northland Panels’ artwork.
Then we experimented with line and contour by drawing the maunga in our immediate area from the view from our beautiful beach. This was transferred onto artworks which also had an “I AM” poem written in the style of George Ella Lyon. We learned to mix primary colours to create rich and varied secondary hues.
