Mānuka's Manu Tukutuku

Rūma Mānuka have been busy making manu tukutuku (kites) to celebrate Matariki. Read Lola's story below to find out how we made them.

Me and Zoe T made a kite. We made it out of flax, toetoe and raupō. First we cut the raupō into even slices. Then we wrapped the flax around the raupō. Next we put on the toetoe and cut it into even strips, then we wrapped the flax around the toetoe. Then we made the string out of flax and tied shells to it and put flowers in the shells.
