Huge Donation from The Easter Fair Trust!

Sharon Prestidge —

I am very pleased to let you know that the 2024 Easter Fair was a huge success. The hundreds and hundreds of volunteer hours generously given has resulted in a sizable donation of $55,923.91 to Māpua School. This money will support learning in our classrooms, as well as helping us make our learning and play spaces better.

As well as the donation to the school, The Easter Fair Trust will be making a donation of $4,061.21 to Māpua Playcentre. Playcentre contributed alongside the school in the preparation and gate rosters, as well as opening playcentre grounds on the day. The donations are worked out using a formula which includes a base amount, and then consideration of roll size, session numbers, session hours and the allocation of any direct donations. It is our pleasure to be working collaboratively with the Playcentre community on this community event.

Our school funds approximately $50,000 of learning support each year over and above the funding we receive for it. The funds generated from The Easter Fair help us to provide this higher level of learning support and we are grateful for the benefit it gives all of our learners.

We are currently working on a new and improved sandpit, a swing structure and updating some of our classroom furniture. Along with previous fundraising efforts, The Easter Fair funding is helping us to create a more inviting learning space both inside and out.

Kanui te maioha (deep gratitude) to everyone who helped to make the fair such a successful event. To the core organising team, who start working in Term 4 and whose lives become consumed by The Easter Fair in Term One, please know how grateful we are for you. We need you, and we appreciate you. To everyone who stepped in to support this team either in the preparation for the day or on the day - thank you! They say ‘it takes a village’ and that is certainly true in the case of the fair. Our tamariki are so lucky to be supported by amazing whānau and hapori (community).

Ngā mihi aroha and with much, much gratitude

Sharon
