Middle Team Conquer Two (Non-Overnight) Camp Days!

Philippa Jackson —

The MIddle Team ventured out of the school grounds and into the beautiful surroundings for a bike ride from Kohatu to the Spooners Tunnel on day 1, and on day 2 we went to the Abel Tasman and walked from Anchorage to Te Pukatea Bay.

We would like to thank the many parents who helped us transport 69 bikes and 69 children to Kohatu on the Great Taste Trail. This was an amazing day where so many children had a new experience, challenged themselves and achieved personal goals. We were faced with hills, cycling in large groups, resilience and biking in the darkness of the tunnel. Lucky we were well prepared!

We arrived back at school in the late afternoon and had a sausage sizzle and pancakes for dinner! Some students chose to create an edible creation of a famous landmark while they waited for their kai.

On day 2, we arrived at school early and travelled to Kaiteriteri. The boat experience was a highlight for some students and they were able to see Split Apple Rock and seals on Adele Island. When we arrived at Anchorage we tramped over to Te Pukatea Bay and spent time playing there and had lunch. And then we brought back to school all of our tired bodies after a mammoth couple of days!
