Tikanga and Te Reo Maori

Chalmers Neil —

We would like to invite all families who embrace the Maori language and culture to come along for a shared dinner on Monday 7th May in Term 2 at 5.30pm.

This will be a time to celebrate all practices that we are doing well in regards to meeting the needs of children in our teaching and learning and also to offer ideas which support Tikanga Maori and Te Reo in our school.

Things to consider for discussion are:

1. Te Reo classes for adults

2. What you would like to see in classes

3. What you would like to see in our community

4. How can the community support the school in regards to Maori culture.

Please bring a dish to share for a dinner. We will meet in the staffroom. All children can have kai with us and then we will provide a caregiver to watch over them in another classroom while we discuss matters in the staffroom. Every year we are growing and learning more about how best we can meet the needs of our Maori learners. These practices also benefit all other children too. Please email admin@mapua.school.nz  to confirm your attendance and whether you will be bringing your children.

Kia ora rawa atu (many thanks)
