Strike! Hits Māpua School
Anna Brewer - September 14, 2022
Last week the percussion trio Strike! came to Māpua School to perform for us.
The group performed a range of percussion pieces, using all sorts, from standard drums to marimba, to traditional cook island drumming to using juice cans. The students were totally enthralled by the high energy (and at times very loud!) performance.
Highlights included a teacher drumming battle between Mr C & Whaea (Whaea took it out), and Noah, Scout, Soloman, Zoey & Lilly helping out with a cook island drumming piece.
It inspired Harakeke class who after the performance set about creating their own percussion pieces.

We loved how they had their drums set up.
The audience looks on with delight!

Who will be the winner??
Trying to clap the beats being played on the drum - it got harder and harder!

It got pretty loud but we were allowed to put our hands over our ears if it did!
