'Sunset over water' inspires some beautiful descriptive writing in lockdown.
The Middles 'Colour My World' theme for term 3 continues from a distance. Students were challenged to use descriptive writing and figurative language to either be 'in' the painting or 'looking at' the painting. What can you see, hear, feel and smell?
"A beautiful and luscious waterfall runs down to the sea. The sun goes down slowly, gracefully, gently. The sky glistens like glitter. The waterfall crashes to the rocks softly......then splat! Nicola Cocks - Y4
A Place of Peace
"The golden sun shines down on the shimmering waterfall, falling gently past hills of mossy green, then of pale orangey-red and finally a lovely yellowy-pink. The sun glows soft pink and yellow. Two hills tower over it all in the distance. I can smell the salt in the water. I can hear the falling of the water, I can feel the soft breeze on my face. Isabelle Gravat - Y3
The icy blue sparkling water plummeted down the sheer cliff. The sun shimmered across the mountain tops. The banks are as colourful as a rainbow. The yellow and pink sky makes me feel happy because the colours are bright. I like the painting because it's a joyful calm picture of the landscape. Aaron Bonny - Y3
I look up at a waterfall as clear as a crystal. In the distance, I see two low hills. Beyond the hills, a beautiful sunset catches my eyes. I spy some pretty coloured rocks by the waterfall. Sophie Cobb - Y3
As well as writing about art, the students were challenged to use multiplication arrays in Piet Mondrian style and the results are mathematical masterpieces!
