Students are 'pumped' about the new bike track due to open soon.
Excitement builds at school as we get closer to opening the new bike track. The top seal is about to be applied and then we are all ready to undertake our safety/skills sessions with Krankin Kids and open the track!
Out and about in the playground this morning, I spoke to some Intermediate students about the new bike track. When asked how they felt about it, this is what they said;
"It will be really cool, something else to do at lunchtimes" Olly J
"I'm excited because it's the newest biggest thing we have ever got" Alius
"Something really cool to liven up lunchtimes" Jonah BM
"Gives us something fun to do rather than just cruise around at lunchtime" Kaiden
"I'm totally looking forward to the pump track" Ben M
A huge thanks to the School Board for supporting the track build and Amber Bonny's commitment and drive to get it up and running ASAP.
A big acknowledgement for the awesome track builder too - Chris. It looks like a fun, safe and well-designed track. Thanks.
We couldn't have done it without the huge financial contribution ($27,000) from Rata Foundation, Bikes in Schools, Nelson Marlborough Health, and the TDC.
Looking ahead to Week 4, we need some parent volunteers to help support the whole school to participate in a safety and skills coaching session with Krankin Kids. If you can support this on either the 2nd or 3rd of November please email htrott@mapua.school.nz
Lastly, get those bikes up to spec! The kids are going to need a safe, well maintained bike and secure fitting helmet to be able to ride the track.
Let's Ride!
