Hue, Gourd Plants for Sale!

Heidi Trott —

Lovingly grown from our own seed stock, you can now purchase your own hue plant to grow at home! Help us fundraise for soil, irrigation and signage in our mara rongoā and mara kai school gardens.

Perfect to climb and with a display of gorgeous hibiscus like flowers, hue/gourds are very fun to watch grow. Great for pollinating the garden too! You can create so much with the product. Māori traditionally ate them while young, or dried them to make taonga puoro (musical treasures), water carriers, preserving jars. They also were often decorated. Check out the photos of ours from Matariki. We were lucky enough to have the following artists design ours; Robin Slow, Gordon Toi, Fran Kidd, Lauren Kidd, Sarah Trolle, Amber Beech and Tumanako Toi!

Go to kindo.co.nz to purchase - 2 plants for $10. Collect under the tree on Friday.
