Native Birds for Ngaio

Anna Brewer —

Ngaio class has been exploring native birds during the last week.

Following some fun warm ups, students chose from a variety of images to base an observation drawing on using a combination of charcoal and art pencil. They have been experimenting with shading, picking out light and dark in their drawings. Next up we are taking these birds bright and crazy, using vivid, bright dye and bold patterns to create some exciting art.

"It was really challenging to spread the charcoal. It was funny at the start when we had to draw with our left hand." Harriett Daly Y6

"It was challenging to get the right shade and pattern with the charcoal. We also did some fun activities to warm ourselves up. We had to close our eye and draw with our eyes closed! It was fun" Lola Pratt Y6

Getting the shape of the bird was tricky!" Grace Wheatley Y5
