Junior Team trip to Ann-droid at the Theatre Royal.

Bridget Dryden —

Part of the Nelson Arts Festival, Ann-droid is a modern day take on Pinocchio complete with special effects and robots.

The entire Junior Team headed into Nelson to attend a morning performance of this amazing show.  The Toetoe tamariki wrote this shared story when we got back to school.

On Wednesday we all got our bags and got into the cars.  We drove to Nelson.  On the way we saw bikes, trucks, trees, and birds.  We lined up outside the theatre and waited for everyone to arrive.  How exciting!  We got to climb the stairs to sit in the balcony area.  The seats were red with gold numbers on them.  They flipped up when you stood up.  The roof was very fancy with patterns on it.  There were three chandeliers.  They were sparkly.  It got very dark and the stage lit up. The show was beginning.  The old man made a robot.  He had a naughty walking frame and a glowing ball.  The robot girl got her heart and turned into a real live girl.  It had a happy ending.  We met our parents again and drove to Tahunanui.  We ate our lunch under the big trees.  Then we went on the playground.  We went on swings, slides, roundabouts, rocking horses and trees.  There was a lot of shouting, spinning, climbing and laughing.  We had another snack and came back to school.  Some of us were so worn out that we had a little snooze in the car on the way back to school.  What a fantastic day!  Thank you to all the parents who took us to the theatre.
