Project Jonah comes to school

Theresa Brown —

How lucky were we, to have Eleanor from Project Jonah, visit the Junior team.

Eleanor came in with the inflatable whale. We really enjoyed finding out facts about whales and dolphins. Together we got a tape measure and measured how big some of these sea creatures are.

Did you know:

The rubbish in drains gets washed out to the sea.

A common dolphin is 2.6 metres long.

The Upokohue are the whales that are usually stranded in Golden Bay. They can grow up to 7 metres long.

The Maki (Orca) can grow to 9 meters long

We learnt how to reduce our footprint and enlarge our handprints.

We even learnt how to look after stranded whales and dolphins.

It was great having Eleanor come to visit us and we were able to raise over $70 for the project.

What a fun morning!
