Ki te kotahi te kākaho ka whati, ki te kāpuia, e kore e whati
When a reed stands alone it can easily break, but when bound together it is unbreakable.
This whakatauki came to mind last week as we came together for whānau - student - teacher conferences. When we work together for the benefit of our tamariki, we are an unbreakable team. This is absolutely what our children need around them, and what will help them navigate the ever changing world they are living in. When they know that they have a range of dependable, loving adults to guide them they can be brave and resilient - the best they can be.
Our teaching team were also reminded that they are part of a pretty amazing wider team. The opportunity to celebrate progress and achievement of your child with you is special, and we thank you for making the effort to come in and do that.
FOMS have organised a working bee for this Sunday 10am. - 2pm. Please come along if you are able. It doesn't have to be for the whole time and children are welcome. This is a great practical way to support your child's school and meet some other parents.
You will see in our COVID update that we are continuing with mask protocols as they are. Our levels of COVID in the school remain constant, and we have a lot of other illness around as well. We do appreciate your support with our cautious approach.
Our BOT have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure our property and strategic plans come to fruition. They meet twice a term as a full Board, and as required in sub committees. In September, we will be holding an election for three Board members. If you think this might be of interest to you, please contact one of our current members (Amber, Rolf, Rachel, Mark, Liz or Toby) to pick their brain and find out what it is all about. Contact the office for their details.
There is much going on in the world which gives us cause to be grateful for what we have, where we live, and the people in our lives at the moment. Take a moment to pause and be thankful, teach our children to be thankful and give the people you love a hug!
