Cricket

We are very proud of a special group of young men who put together the performance of the season today against Nelson College on Horton Park. Batting first, the top order got us off to a strong start with Cooper and Tim, followed by some good contributions through the middle and lower order to get us to a good total. 247 was always going to be a tough chase but the game was soon over as our bowlers ripped through led, by Griffin Carter with devastating figures of 6 for 7 off seven overs. A 195 run victory meaning we progress to the next stage of the Gillette Cup, the CD regional final which has been postponed to November in Palmerston North.

The lads have had a great season and have done an amazing job. They have taken ownership of this team selecting teams, running trainings doing previews and reviews of games and basically running the team.  Well done to the player leadership group for getting on board with this strategy.

That's the end of the season for us. We will put in the mahi over the winter with the goal being NZ Gillette Finals.

Thanks for a great season. Thanks to the parents for their support, Marl Cricket, Phil d'Auvergne and Mike Croad for their help and anyone else who assisted getting the boys to such a great level of performance. Until next season......

Junior Footballers- Put through their paces during our pre-season!

It has been great this year to work with such a strong number of dedicated Year 9 and 10 students who will form the wider squad for Junior football exchanges and tournament this year. With covid peppering the previous two seasons for these young men, we are really pleased with the reliance they have shown and their response to our kōrero around the importance of switching on their football brain and having a positive mental attitude.
