Marlborough Careers Evening

MBC —

The Marlborough Careers Evening is an annual event organised by the Marlborough Boys' College Careers Department for all secondary schools within the region.

This event has gone from strength to strength over the years and has been very well supported. Usually around 1,000 people attend. It provides an opportunity for parents, students, as well as members of the public to meet and discuss courses and training with providers. Parental involvement is particularly important for young people when they are choosing a career and we make a special effort to promote it to the parents of our students. It is timed so that it is close to subject selection and years 11 and 12 students can get advice about which subjects to choose for a future career or tertiary course.

The evening provides a platform for students to increase their knowledge base on specific careers, speak one to one to experienced people from the industries, and to see how many options are accessible within New Zealand. There are representatives from universities, polytechnics, Defence Force, NZ Police, private training organisations and industry training organisations.

In addition to the above organisations, we have local businesses who showcase what is available in our region. This has come to the fore with the current climate and provides exceptional career opportunities here in Marlborough.

This year we will be at Stadium 2000 on Monday 20 June from 6.30pm - 8.30pm.
