Forestry Course

MBC —

The Level 2 Forestry Course at MBC provides a practical, hands-on course with a good overview of the industry.

The Level 2 Forestry Course covers the health, safety, and environmental requirements in forestry, the growth and processing of commercial forestry as well as the rules and use of chainsaws.

Marlborough Forestry Industry Association along with Smart and Connected Forestry have kindly donated two chainsaws and PPE gear to wear whilst using the chainsaws. They have also provided funding for workbooks used in the Forestry class and classroom support for providing training for chainsaw maintenance, chainsaw sharpening, tree felling and using chainsaws.

“The substantial support from the MFIA and Smart and Connected Forestry is overwhelming and we appreciate the purchase of the chainsaws and PPE which will allow the students to improve their chainsaw knowledge and skills safely” says Rebecca Kane, the teacher of Forestry at MBC.

The funding will also allow for industry experts to teach the students and provide them with the knowledge of job opportunities within the forestry industry. The Stihl Shop has provided the chainsaws and PPE and is one of many local businesses providing support to the Forestry course.
