Home-stay host families sought for one-term and longer stay international exchange students in 2023.

In 2023 MBC will again accept short term international exchanges for a small number of students who meet our entry criteria.   Could you open your home to an International student and expand your family?

Miles, language and cultural differences sometimes make us feel worlds apart from each other. However, when you welcome an international high school exchange student into your home, you quickly discover they become family. Through conversations and experiences at home, school, and throughout the community, you will learn how close together “worlds apart” can really be. Build lifelong friendships with a family from across the globe through an international student and learn about different cultures by hosting.

The expectation is that the host family will provide a Home Sweet Home. A comfy, safe place to live, sleep, study, and thrive. Three healthy meals a day and include the student in family activities. A weekly financial contribution to costs per exchange student is paid to home-stay hosts for expenses incurred.

All family members over 18 years of age undergo a Police Vet as part of the Code of Practice for International Students.

If you choose to be a home-stay host family, we communicate with you in the build-up to the student arriving, providing a profile of the student you would be hosting. We also provide some practical guidelines to help you host an international student and will answer any queries before and during the visit. Students have insurance cover for medical care.

Marlborough Boys’ College encourages its students to become involved in as many areas of school life as possible. Being a home-stay host brother is the sort of experience that can build confidence for your son to get involved in other areas of school life for example junior leadership roles, which can then lead to senior leadership.
