Welcome Back to School: A Message from the Principal

MBCFebruary 17, 2025

Firstly a warm welcome back to school! I trust you had a restful and enjoyable break, and that you are ready to begin another exciting year filled with new opportunities for learning and growth.

It’s always a pleasure to see our students return to school, full of energy and enthusiasm for the year ahead.

As we embark on this new school year, I want to take a moment to reinforce our key vision which is “to empower and inspire our learning community to be the best that they can be”. Our core values as they guide us throughout the months to come. These values Respect, Pride, Involvement, and Responsibility are the foundation of everything we do here at Marlborough Boys’ College and we are committed to ensuring that each student has the opportunity to grow in these areas.

Attendance: A Key to Success

One of the most important ways to support your child’s education is by ensuring they are present and engaged in their learning. Regular attendance not only helps students stay on track academically, but it also fosters a strong sense of connection to their school community. Every day of school is an opportunity for learning, and we strongly encourage all students to be present and punctual.

If your child is unable to attend school due to illness or any other reason, we ask that you notify us promptly. Together, we can ensure that students continue to thrive by maintaining strong attendance habits.

Living Our Values: Responsibility, Pride, Involvement, and Respect

Our school’s values serve as the guiding principles in our educational community. Here’s how we expect these values to shape our students' behaviour and attitudes:

Respect: Respect is the cornerstone of a positive learning environment. We expect students to show respect for their peers, teachers, and the school environment. This includes listening attentively, treating others with kindness, and maintaining a positive attitude.

Pride: At Marlborough Boys’ College we want our students to take pride in their work, their school, and themselves. This means striving for excellence, doing their best, and carrying themselves with confidence and integrity.

Involvement: A school community thrives when everyone is actively engaged. We encourage students to participate in class discussions, extracurricular activities, and school events. Involvement helps them develop leadership skills, build relationships, and contribute to the success of the whole school.

Responsibility: We encourage students to take ownership of their actions, both in the classroom and in the wider school community. This includes being prepared for lessons, completing assignments on time, and accepting accountability for their choices.

Thank You for Your Support

We are excited to work together with you to make this year a rewarding and successful one for your child. Your support in upholding these values and ensuring regular attendance is crucial in helping your child thrive academically and personally. We believe that when students, parents, and staff work together, we can create an environment that fosters respect, responsibility, and pride in all that we do.

We look forward to another year of growth, achievement, and strong school spirit. Thank you for being an important part of our school community.
