Ash Millen, Board of Trustees Parent Representative —

Keeping up to date with our Board of Trustees!

It has been a busy and interesting time for Board Members over the past couple of months.  Members have been involved in:

  • Piritahi Board Hui held at MBC. Teachers and Board Members from schools across the district attended.  It was a great opportunity to meet other people and to be challenged with new ideas.
  • Giving effect to ‘’Te Tiriti Waitangi’’ workshop. This was an opportunity to see how the treaty has been imbedded into the new MOE curriculum and how we can bring it into our schools to make it an integral part of our students learning.
  • Co-Governance Hui with the Marlborough Boys College BOT on working to build a new structure as we move towards co-location.
  • It has been exciting to finally see earth being shifted and the new all-weather hockey turf being constructed. Members from Hockey Marlborough met with the BOT this week to begin discussion on how we can all work together to optimize the use of the new turf. It is going to be a real asset for our students to have this facility on the school grounds.

Over the next couple of months, the school is holding elections for the Student Representative and Student Māori Youth Voice positions on our Board of Trustees. This is an opportunity to be part of the Board of Trustee's decision making process and to be the voice of all your colleagues at the school. The Board really values the input that your current representatives bring to our meetings. Please take the opportunity to put your name forward or nominate someone you feel could represent you. Taking part in the process of governance of the school is a powerful tool for learning.

Thank you to all staff and students for all the ways in which you uphold the values of the school and support each other.
