Another great day out - here are the results from our Marlborough Girls’ College Cross Country held on Friday 28 April 2023

It was another perfect day for the annual MGC Cross Country “Great Escape” on Friday 28 April as students and staff took to the hills to run or walk various courses at the Wither Hills Farm Park.

Age group results for the 3km run were:

• Under 14 
  • 1st - Amelia Hardy (Kaituna) 14.34
  • 2nd - Jaye Wiapo (Wairau) 14.53
  • 3rd - Kathryn de Zwart (Ōpaoa) 14.56
• Under 15 
  •  1st - Isla Tilbury (Wairau) 12.45 - fastest time of the day
  • 2nd - Katie Pugh (Ōpaoa) 12.51
  • 3rd - Sam Marfell (Awatere) 13.47
• Under 16 
  •  1st - Amber Bendell (Awatere) 14.26
  • 2nd - Elizabeth Bowron (Ōpaoa) 14.28
  • 3rd - Mila van Rensburg (Ōpaoa) 14.36
• Under 19 
  • 1st - May Smith (Wairau) 14.07
  • 2nd - Delyth James-Sitters (Kaituna) 14.11
  • 3rd - Georgia Marfell (Ōpaoa) 14.50

House points

In the highly contested House competition, students, staff and whānau were able to earn points for competing in the run or walk. Each House also received points for their top 3 finishers and top 6 finishers in each age group, as well as house spirit and tidiness of areas.

• 1st - coming out on top was Wairau with 414 points
• 2nd - close behind - Ōpaoa with 380 points
• 3rd - Kaituna with 341 points
• 4th - Awatere with 284 points
