House Reading & Book of the Week

House Reading

May is the month when houses challenge each other to read the month. Points are earned by talking about the books with the school Librarians.

This year's house reading was a close win and an absolute blast! Both Awatere at 264 and Wairau at 296 did amazing, congrats to everyone who read. With a seven point difference, Kaituna -353 points- was so close to winning, but Ōpaoa won yet again, pulling out front at 360 points. Well done to everyone who contributed and I hope you all had fun.

Special praise to our stand-out contributors: Brooke Pontague (Awatere), Malin Sroboda (Kaituna), Aria Millen (Ōpaoa) and Emily Mason (Wairau), you all did a great job helping your house raise to the amount of points you ended up with! Mrs Shipley said that she and Ms Crowe “really enjoyed having conversations with students about what they had been reading. All books were logged in person this year so it was great to have such good participation.”

Good luck for next year.

Your head student librarian.
