Year 9 students celebrate
It’s been a time of recognising achievements, having fun together, and reflecting on the incredible journey our students have taken as they’ve embraced new learning, made new friends, and become part of the MGC whānau.
Our Year 9 Celebration Assembly was a fantastic opportunity to honour students who have shown exceptional dedication to their learning, with recognition for those achieving 90% or higher attendance. Attendance matters—not just for academic success but also for building a sense of belonging that is so important at school. We also enjoyed some fun whānau awards, chosen by students, to celebrate and acknowledge each other in a lighthearted way.
The fun didn’t stop there. Yesterday morning saw our Year 9 and 10 whānau classes competing in tabloid sports. Dodgeball, in particular, brought out some fierce competition. Well done to 9DRAO for being the Year 9 whānau class winners!
The day ended on a high note with the MGC Lip Sync, where our Year 9 students took to the stage to showcase their incredible performances. Well done to 9GRGW and 9WAMW for their combined effort and being the winning Year 9 classes for Lip Sync. Their hard work and creativity shone through, and it was fantastic to see their confidence and enthusiasm.
I am so proud of the growth, determination, and resilience our Year 9s have shown throughout this year. They’ve adapted to college life with positivity and embraced every opportunity with energy and spirit. It has been a privilege to be part of their journey, and I look forward to seeing what 2025 brings.
