Abel Tasman beckons

Liv Matthews and Alice Paterson —

On 6 April, the Year 13 PE class set off on their Abel Tasman Camp. Liv and Alice share their experiences from the trip.

On the 6th of April the year 13 PE class went on our Abel Tasman camp. The purpose of this trip is for us to critically analyse issues in safety management, while also having a great time off the grid.

On day one we kayaked from Marahau to Anchorage, despite the weather being less than ideal with a huge head wind and rain, however our class still made the most of this experience.

Once we arrived at Anchorage all the girls set up camp, and went for a swim at sunset and also tried to keep our food out of weka reach!

On day two we walked from Anchorage to Onetahuti. On this day we stopped for lunch at Bark Bay and this was very much enjoyed.

One of the highlights was the dolphins we saw once we arrived at Onetahuti. We finished our trip with a walk from Onetahuti to Awaroa with time to spare so had a refreshing swim before the water taxi back to Marahau.

On the way back to Blenheim we refueled with some well deserved kai. This camp gave us some valuable life lessons and made us realise how much we value disconnecting from our daily lives - Thanks Ms Tatt and Ms Boyce!!!!!!!!
