NZ Aquabot National Competition - Selwyn Aquatic Centre- 26th November 2023

Marlborough Girls' College —

Having gained qualification at the regional Qualifier in September, three MGC teams travelled to Rolleston for the National final on 26th November.

The teams demonstrated amazing teamwork, problem solving and communication skills throughout the competition. The three MGC teams joined 37 teams that qualified from regional events held in Whangarei, Auckland, Rotorua, Whakatane, Masterton, Wellington, Nelson and Christchurch. Teams were divided by age into College, Intermediate and Primary divisions.

During the competition teams were required to present about their Aquabot experience, use their ROV to pick up magnetic scallop shells and algae encrusted PVC pipe, complete an obstacle course as fast as possible and collaborate with another team in the 'Surprise task'. All of the teams showed amazing maturity and resilience to complete the day.

The MGC Flitzpipen were the highest placed Marlborough Girls' College team finishing 6th in the College division.
