Ota Scholars return ...

Jeasinah Alipia —

Jeasinah Alipia, Year 9, shares her experience of her recent trip to Tokyo as one of our Ota Scholars.

It was a privilege of mine to be one of the Ota scholarship recipients.

Our sister school, Jissen Gakuen, had a very polite and welcoming community, and I learned many things about Japanese culture. Having the experience of staying with a host family and attending school in Japan was an eye opening experience, and taught me about being more open minded to how other people live their lives.

This scholarship was a wonderful opportunity for me to grow and know more about myself, and I hope our relationship with Jissen Gakuen only grows stronger. I had many enjoyable moments to look back on, but one of my favourites has to be going to Asakusa.

We went to Senso-ji, the oldest temple in Japan. We also visited the Nakamise shopping street, where we got to try out many different types of cuisine, as well as looking around at the shrines.

It was definitely a time to remember, and I truly encourage our other junior students to go for this opportunity as well.
