Performing for the Marlborough District Council
On Friday, the 25th November, the MGC Measina Whānau class was invited to Marlborough District Council's Chambers to perform a Tongan dance during signing The Statement of Commitment Ceremony for Welcoming Communities.
This public accreditation of commitment has been signed by the Marlborough Mayor Nadine Taylor and other cultural and community organisations, such as Marlborough Multicultural Centre. Accreditation as a Committed Welcoming Community formally recognises that a council with its community values newcomers and is committed to building welcoming and inclusive communities and has taken active steps to create an environment where all residents can thrive and belong. It was a very moving ceremony!
