Statistics Speak

Marlborough Girls' College —

Our Year 13 students in Statistics have been working with data alongside the Marine Farming Association

Our Senior Statistics classes have been learning about how to collect and use data to calculate the yield from mussel farming.

Our Mathematics teachers Wande Ebofin and Pratiksha Peters worked with the Marine Farming Association, running a hands-on workshop for our Year 13 students. The students collected the data from mussels and analysed it themselves.

This is another great example of how focusing learning in real life contexts can result in a positive outcome for students. Even better is that by linking learning to the real world of work, our senior students had the opportunity to connect with an organisation in the local community which also links to significant employment pathways.
