Senior Choir Ovation has been selected to compete at the South Island Cadenza in Timaru against 11 other choirs.

Across the motu (country), 250 choirs entered into the Big Sing competition within their regions. Ovation, the MGC senior choir, competed on the 12th of June and from this have been selected to compete at the South Island Cadenza, competing against 11 of the top choirs from Te Wai Pounamu (the South Island). Cadenza combines the excitement of a competitive, Finale-style event with the extra dimension of massed workshops, featuring an internationally-recognised choral specialist who also acts as adjudicator. From the two-day event, choirs have the chance to win a bronze, silver or gold award.

Isabella Baldwin (Year 12 Student): "I'm excited to attend Timaru for the third time this year for Cadenza. Every year we look forward to advancing and I was excited to learn that we were successful again this year. Timaru is always a fun time. I love travelling away because it allows us to meet with other choirs from the South Island that we normally wouldn't have a chance to meet and make new friends."
