BOT Spot
With the end of the school year here, our Board Chair, Brian Roughan, provides an update on the Board of Trustees.
2022 has been another challenging year for the Board, staff, students and the wider community at Marlborough Girls’ College due to Covid 19 again disrupting plans. A big credit goes to our learners and staff facing this challenge, ensuring our focus on student learning is not compromised.
The recent Board of Trustees elections resulted in some changes. Erika Te Whiu stepped down as a parent representative, and we thank Erika for her involvement during the past three years. Andrew Crawford and myself were re-elected onto the board. We also welcomed Paula Schreuder, a new parent representative, who was elected to the board. Student representatives Funaki Lousiale (elected) and Cleo Collins (Student Māori Youth Voice) also joined the Board. We wish to thank Hope Te Whiu for her valuable Student Māori Youth Voice role on the board, along with Emma Flanagan, who stepped down as Student Representative. The Board appreciates student input into our meetings. I was reconfirmed by the Board as Chairperson and Anna Straker as Deputy Chairperson.
Anyone interested in attending board meetings can do so for the public part of the meeting. If you are interested in attending, please contact the Board Secretary.
As the school year comes to a close, I would like to thank the Board, staff and our school community for supporting our students in their learning. Without your support, our students would not be able to successfully complete the many subjects or activities that they undertake.
Have a safe and enjoyable holiday with your Whānau, and we look forward to seeing you all in 2023.
Meri Kirihimete!
