Shooting team hits target
Congratulations to the MGC target shooting team who placed fourth in the NZ Secondary Schools target shooting championship during the October break.
The MGC target shooting team are made up of Amelia Rowe, Stella Henry and Samantha Neal. On 1 October they competed in the NZ Secondary Schools target shooting championship. Amelia and Stella qualified for the South Island team, with Samantha only just missing out on the team by 0.02 points. The South Island team went on to beat the North Island.
We are especially proud of Amelia and Stella's achievements in being selected for the NZ Secondary Schools’ target shooting team to compete against Britain!
Amelia and Stella were both selected for the team, with Amelia top-scoring for New Zealand with a score of 197/200. Results from the NZ v Britain match will be announced in six months once the British team has shot (at the end of their indoor season).
On 29 October we received confirmation that MGC's team won gold in the Girls' Team Competition in the National Secondary Schools Postal Shoot against nine other schools. MBC won the Boys' Competition so it was double gold for Marlborough!
Amelia was named top shooter in the girls grade and 2nd girl overall.
