Battle of the Bibliophiles

Joanne DesForges —

This year, by popular demand, the inaugural Battle of the Bibliophiles was held - a reading competition for Year 10 students.

Their task was to read 15 books over three terms, and have a good knowledge of the Britannica online encyclopedia. The competition took place online and there was a time limit for teams to answer the questions.

We had two teams of six entered from Marlborough Girls' College. Many of these students had competed in the Year 9 Readers cup last year, and it was great to see them carrying on with their reading.

A total of 15 books over three terms was a big commitment - but the group built some great friendships and teamwork during this time. There were lots of good discussions about the books throughout the year as well.

Out of 50 teams competing from around the country, our teams placed a commendable 13th and 17th place.  What an amazing effort!  It was great to see them having so much fun and pushing themselves to keep learning.
