MGC Water Polo Team Win South Island Junior Secondary Schools Championship!
The MGC Water Polo team had an amazing 4 days down in Christchurch competing in the South Island Junior Secondary Schools (SIJSS) Championship.
On the 23rd of November, the MGC Junior Water Polo team traveled to Christchurch to participate in the South Island Junior Secondary Schools Championship. The weekend was packed full of games and fun.
On the first day, we played three games which we won. This set the precedent for the rest of the tournament and we went on to convincingly win all of our pool games followed by the semi-finals. Then on Sunday afternoon, we found ourselves playing Villa Maria in the field. After playing a tough game, Marlborough Girls’ narrowly won the title beating Villa Maria 4-3.
It was a great week away with the girls and what made it even better was that Koko Wong was awarded Most Valuable Player out of the girls' competition, a well-deserved award.
A huge thank you to the coaches, managers, drivers and parents who helped in many different ways.
