Year 13 PE and Outdoor Ed Camp - Abel Tasman National park

Ian Thomas —

An unforgettable and fantastic learning experience for our students.

On 5 March, the Year 13 PE and Outdoor Education classes arrived in Marahau where they began their journey along the Abel Tasman.

This started with an 11km Kayak from Marahau to Anchorage, where we pitched our tents for the night as an early rise awaited us. On the second day, we walked 18 km from Anchorage to Onetahuti, stopping for a swim and a snack at the Cleopatra Pools. This walk took us approximately 8 hours and was scattered with the infamous golden sand and blue water of the Abel Tasman.

We spent the second night in Onetahuti in preparation for a short 5km walk to Awaroa where we were then picked up by a Water Taxi, getting the chance to see an extensive pod of dolphins on the way back to Marahau.

Overall, the experience was unforgettable!
