Marlborough Girls' College —

Congratulations to all our runners who participated at the Tasman Secondary School Cross Country in Nelson last week.

MGC students performed well, winning the Year 9 Girls - 3 Person Team and coming away with a respectable 2nd place in the Junior Girls - 3 Person Team.

Individual results were:

Year 9 Girls

  • 2nd Neve McKenzie
  • 3rd Isla Tilbury
  • 6th Katie Pugh

Junior Girls

  • 8th Bella Rayner
  • 9th Lilly McMillan
  • 10th Mila van Rensburg
  • 12th Mila Rosthorn
  • 15th Brooke Harper

Student's perspective:

  • I am not much of a long-distance runner myself but I pushed down the nerves and did it anyway. It was so much fun going over there with my friends and we had lots of fun. Brooke Harper, Year 10
  • It was really windy and the course was quite difficult but we all did our best and pushed ourselves. I think it was a really cool experience getting to go with people I know and seeing how well everyone did. Bella Rayner, Year 10.
  • For a part of it, we ran against the wind which wasn’t very enjoyable. Overall it was a really cool and fun experience. Mila Rosthorn, Year 10.
  • Going along inspired me to push myself more in running. Mila Rosthorn, Year 10.
  • I don't normally compete in running events as I only run for my other sports and I didn't know what to expect, but when the race started I felt better as I realise that there isn't much to worry about. Katie Pugh, Year 9.
