What can I do at MGC?

Marlborough Girls' College —

You can do almost anything!

There are plenty of activities including school clubs, sports teams, arts and cultural groups to join and we encourage you to give everything a go. Try one new activity every term while in your first year.

We hold an Expo Day at the start of the year where you can get more information on the different groups and activities and register your interest.

Make sure you keep an eye on the school notices each day as other opportunities will be promoted there or through our Facebook page. Or you can find out more on our MGC website here - https://www.mgc.school.nz/extra-curricula

Cultural

Opportunities include the Combined Colleges’ Production, Talent Quest, International Buddies, Ngā Manu Kōrero, Kapa Haka, Art Exhibitions, Debating, Jazz Band, Shakespeare Festival, Choirs and Pasifika Culture Group, Writers Club – to name just a few!

Sports

There are school sports days for Athletics, Cross Country and Swimming Sports. We also have teams in Football, Hockey, Sailing,

Futsal, Squash, Tennis, Volleyball, Netball, Rowing, Skiing, Water Polo, Table Tennis and many more. Keep an eye on school notices and the Facebook page. Mrs Gallop is our Sports Coordinator, so if you have any questions about sporting options at MGC just ask her.

Leadership

If you are keen to build on your leadership skills, you could check out Duke of Edinburgh, Librarians, Leos Club, Academic Mentors or Whānau Captains. There are also several School Committees you can join including Environment, International, Events and Promotion, Sports and Hauora.

We believe in developing the whole learner by facilitating growth in all areas of life. We are very proud of the wide range of opportunities we are able to offer to cater to the diverse interests and abilities of our learners.
