Ballet Workshop & Tutus on Tour

Marlborough Girls' College —

Dancing for everyone!

Royal NZ Ballet Dance Workshop

On Thursday, 7th March, 20 MGC students attended a Royal NZ Ballet Dance Workshop led by one of the RNZB dancers. This workshop was for everyone who is passionate about dancing, no matter the level of experience. Students enjoyed learning parts of RNZB routines and learned names of various ballet positions. They lept, jumped, pranced and twirled.

“It was an amazing experience. I never knew I could do it”, said one of the Year 9 students, who has never danced before.

Tutus on Tour 2024

The ever-popular Tutus on Tour returned to our theatre to mark the end of summer and the start of a brand new year of ballet-going.

108 students plus 8 teachers went to ASB Theatre to watch TUTUS ON TOUR 2024. Dance lovers of all ages watched excerpts from Russell Kerr’s beautiful production of Swan Lake. Performances included the ‘Black Swan’ pas de deux, the famous ‘Cygnets’ quartet, the graceful Pas de Trois from Act I and the grand Hungarian and Neopolitan dances, always a highlight of Act III.

There were lots of jumps, leaps and pirouettes. The whole ASB Theatre was filled with loud cheers and lots of capping. What an amazing experience for all the dancers from our school who had this rare opportunity to see such an amazing presentation from RNZB.
